Newborn Photography Studio Rogers Arkansas | Marrilynn

I was so looking forward to meeting sweet Marilynn after photographing her amazing mom and dad in my studio for their maternity session a couple months earlier. Their love story was one of my favorites and their chemistry was undeniable. I loved getting to spend the morning with them and I just knew their little girl was going to be ridiculously gorgeous, and I bet she’s going to grow up with her mama’s kindness and her daddy’s sass :)

Marilynn’s newborn session was the sweetest. She slept so soundly and didn’t open her little peepers even once. Along with much signature styling, Marilynn’s parents had a couple special requests for props and one included a tribute to her late grandmother who had such a fierce love of reading. I love how her whole session turned out and loved getting to spend the morning snuggling this little angel even more.

Allow me to introduce you to my new little friend, with the yummiest little cheeks, the squishiest widdle wips, and the prettiest dark hair, Marilynn.

Newborn Studio Photography Fayetteville Arkansas | Baby Baylor

It’s always such an honor when a fellow photographer asks me to be their newborn photographer and create these beautiful photographs of such an amazing and important time in their lives. Whitney, of Mockingbird.Designs, came down from Southwest Missouri with her sweet little family for her newest little lady’s newborn session.

She was just 7 days old, and already her whole family was smitten with her, especially big brother, Brooks. He and big sister Briar (who may have taken just a smidge more convincing) were so sweet and absolutely darling with their new baby.

I loved getting to know this sweet family and getting to snuggle their adorable little girl. Baylor is one lucky lady to be surrounded with so much love and joy. Welcome to the world, baby girl.

I even made a Facebook contest to get suggestions. However, I was just sitting at my desk at work when her name popped into my head. I was certain that was the choice, but dad was hesitant, thinking it leaned more toward a boy name. We discussed names off and on, but never said “Yep, this is IT.” I went in to be induced, and the nurse asked if she had a name. I looked at my husband, and said, “Baylor?” questioningly. He replied with, “Yeah, that’s fine.” That tells you how tired we both were of talking about it!”

Brooks has always been a wonderful older sibling and he was so excited about a new sister, though he did suggest a few times that we might want to reconsider and get a Beagle pup instead.”

At 11 a.m., I was at 5 cm and asked for an epidural, waving the white flag. As the anesthesiologist prepared the needle (according to dad), the nurse and I made some awkward eye contact and she asked him to hold on. As she went to check on my progress, she, very politely, told him that we wouldn’t need his services and started yelling for a doctor. Baylor was born at 11:30 a.m., no epidural. So a 5 to a 10 in…25 minutes, very fast!”

Since January, we had sold our home, starting building a home, moved in with my parents, I started a new job in May, my husband quit his job in May and found out he was accepted into the Springfield Fire Academy after four nail-biting months of joblessness, and then there was a baby. However, God has a plan for everything. Living with my parents (and teenage siblings) meant there were lots of extra hands and laps for Baylor and the older two. Dad found out he got into the fire academy four days before Baylor was born, and he had a month before he started, so we had an entire month with everyone home together all day, every day, to bond.”

However, from the second she entered this family, she became the center of our world, the same as her siblings. That’s the magic of parenthood, I suppose. Even when there’s more than one, there’s still room for each to be in the very center of your heart.”

Maternity Photography Session NWA | Waiting for Ava

I was so honored to have been chosen to photograph Amy and her growing bump during her studio maternity session. The story of her journey to motherhood and the little miracle growing inside her, who they would name Ava Jewel, was one of the most touching I’ve heard.

Here is just a little glimpse inside her gorgeous maternity session and a little of her beautiful story.

We decided if we had a girl, she would be Ava Jewel Brooks. We just liked the name Ava and Jewel was my grandmothers name.  We never could decide on a boy name… thank goodness we had a girl.”

Rylan | Studio Newborn Photographers NW Arkansas

Sweet little Rylan, and his gorgeous mom and dad, came to the studio for his newborn photo session when he was just under two weeks old. He loved being snuggled and was such a handsome little guy. It was such a wonderful morning, getting to spend time with this sweet boy and getting to know his adorable family who were already completely head-over-heels for him.

Welcome to the world, baby Rylan!

Studio Newborn Photographers NW Arkansas | Erica Kirby Photography arkansas best baby photographer - studio newborn baby boy photo session“We found out we were pregnant mid December and had the opportunity to have fun with our announcement. For Austin’s family, his mom quickly asked me if I would like a glass of wine and when I said no thanks (unlike me, I love a glass of wine) she knew. And her eyes filled up with sweet tears. With that lesson learned, we showed up to my family Christmas with a wine bottle filled with cranberry juice and played charades for my parents to guess. We caught it all on tape! It was fun!”

Studio Newborn Photographers NW Arkansas | Erica Kirby Photography arkansas best baby photographer - studio newborn baby boy photo sessionStudio Newborn Photographers NW Arkansas | Erica Kirby Photography arkansas best baby photographer - studio newborn baby boy photo session“We found out the gender by a fun gender reveal. We had a scan and then handed the envelope to our best friends who threw a party. Our closest friends and family gathered as our two dogs ran out of the house into the backyard with blue bandanas on that said “it’s a boy!” I am forever grateful to my best friend for throwing that for us!”

He remembered it and brought it back up. Austin is his name and his mothers maiden name and it made her so happy to get to us it. It was sweet to me!”

“Pregnancy was easier for me than I expected. My perspective on what matters changed so quickly. My son taught me to slow life down and I am so grateful for all he is teaching me.

“I think I was pretty nervous about the whole thing to get too excited. I was just one foot in front of the other the whole way. However, my husband is so excited to teach him sports. One of my favorite memories is sitting at lunch with Austin and I made a comment about our son going to the UofA and before I barely took a breath after my comment, he quickly responded that we don’t know where he will get a baseball or golf scholarship to and that it will probably be so many places he may not pick the UofA. It was sweet. I am looking forward to watching Austin teach him sports.”

“Labor was great. It will remain one of my all time favorite days. I hold fondly all our family being there excited and eager to meet Rylan. I felt loved and safe. I was induced so it was a very controlled enviornment. Everyone stayed all night and refused to leave to meet little man. It was a beautiful day.

“How did dad do?? Dad had to have applesauce juice because he looked faint… he is going to kill me for that.

“We also had picked Austin’s grandmother’s birthday to be induced and brought the Bible she gave Austin as a boy with us to the hospital. God is good. ”

Studio Newborn Photographers NW Arkansas | Erica Kirby Photography arkansas best baby photographer - studio newborn baby boy photo sessionStudio Newborn Photographers NW Arkansas | Erica Kirby Photography arkansas best baby photographer - studio newborn baby boy photo session“We just both praised God when we saw and heard him safe. He was also so content and small. It was just a whirlwind.

“[The first few days] were wonderful. We were surrounded with family and friends. So much love and help! We are blessed.”

Studio Newborn Photographers NW Arkansas | Erica Kirby Photography arkansas best baby photographer - studio newborn baby boy photo sessionStudio Newborn Photographers NW Arkansas | Erica Kirby Photography arkansas best baby photographer - studio newborn baby boy photo session“[Being a parent is] better than expected. He is a really good baby, and we know we are lucky. He is super funny too. Great little personality. We surely have it in for the terrible twos or something.”

And lastly, mama’s advice to new or expecting parents:

“Dont’ google. Ha!”

Northwest AR Maternity Photography | Jordan & Jeremiah

I met Jordan and Jeremiah for their maternity session on the perfect summer evening, just a couple months before their little boy was due to arrive.

I had moved from Alberta, Canada to attend the genetic counseling program at UAMS and Jeremiah had moved from southwest Arkansas to attend the pharmacy program. My roommate at the time was also in pharmacy school and he introduced us. Soon after we began dating even though I had already accepted a job back home in Canada. I moved back to Canada after a few months of dating and we did long distance for a year. We had just finished building our first home together in northwest Arkansas when we found out that we were expecting our little man.”

We had them open the package while we were skyping, although grandpa had already guessed what the announcement would be. We also sent pictures and a video of the ultrasound to his uncle and auntie to be.

We told the Foster family in person. Jeremiah’s sister and her husband had recently welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Boone, into this world and we brought him a gift with a onesie that said ‘I’m being promoted to big cousin.'”

We had some genetic testing done early on in the pregnancy. The day we received the results we went to lunch and opened the envelope together, just the two of us. We were ecstatic about the news of our little man. We had both guessed before that we were having a baby boy. That weekend we went shopping and we each picked out an outfit for him. Mom picked out a onesie that said “Mom’s handsome little fella” and dad picked out some camouflage overalls. We took pictures with our outfits and sent them to our family to share the news.”
