It was a Monday afternoon when Linda‘s water broke. Though, she wasn’t even sure that’s what was happening at the time. She later joked that she and Carlos googled it to make sure it was really her water breaking! They headed for the hospital and sent me a text letting me know that their little girl was on her way.
As a birth photographer, I am “on-call” often. No matter the time of day or night, if one of my mamas goes into labor I am no more than a few minutes from the hospital, ready to document their amazing day. With first-time moms, I’ll be honest, I usually anticipate a long labor and not seeing them for a number of hours before they reach active labor. That was no the case for Linda though, I was amazed at how quickly I got the text that she had reached active labor and by the time I arrived at the hospital she was already at 8cm. She was doing so wonderfully!
When I got to Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville and reached their room, it was so peaceful. The room was calm, Linda and Carlos were enjoying their last few hours together as a family of 2. It was beautiful.
For the next couple hours, as her labor continued to progress, they dreamed about who their baby girl would look like. And with the help of a highly anticipated epidural, they even had some time to watch a little “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Just as the sun was setting, Linda’s progress was complete and it was time to welcome their beautiful little Adaline. Dr Schmitz, with Lifespring Women’s Center, came into the room and after some words of encouragement, it was time to deliver their perfect little baby.
Linda and Carlos were amazing. Linda was so strong and so calm, and Carlos was such a great support for his beautiful wife. At 9:35pm they finally met the little girl they had dreamed of for so long.
I am so honored to have been able to be there to photograph this most perfect day. Happy birthday to little Adaline.
