Becoming a mother for the second time brings with it a whole different set of emotions. You of course have all of the same excitement and anticipation that you had with your first child, but it’s just different the second time. I remember being so excited for our little family to grow, so excited to bring that little baby home from the hospital, and for my oldest daughter to gain a little sister. But then, at the same time, sad about losing that one-on-one time that I had grown so accustomed to with my oldest. She was my buddy, my best little friend; we did everything together. Would she be mad at me for taking that time away from her? Would I be able to handle being a mom of two? And how could I possibly love anyone else as much as I loved her?

It’s funny the way these things work out though. When you welcome another baby to your family, you don’t share your love between the two. This miraculous thing happens, that love multiplies. It’s an unexplainable feeling, one that I think only parents can really understand. And it is absolutely beautiful.

I met Kelly for her in-home maternity session, just weeks before her second little girl was to join their family. She had all the same feelings I had and knew how precious this time with her oldest baby was. She wanted to document it all one more time before little sister came along. Their session was honest and beautiful and full of love. I am so grateful that I was able to be a part of this amazing story and their beautiful bond as mother and daughter.
