I met Jordan and Jeremiah for their maternity session on the perfect summer evening, just a couple months before their little boy was due to arrive.
“We met in graduate school. I had moved from Alberta, Canada to attend the genetic counseling program at UAMS and Jeremiah had moved from southwest Arkansas to attend the pharmacy program. My roommate at the time was also in pharmacy school and he introduced us. Soon after we began dating even though I had already accepted a job back home in Canada. I moved back to Canada after a few months of dating and we did long distance for a year. We had just finished building our first home together in northwest Arkansas when we found out that we were expecting our little man.”
“We mailed grandma and grandpa Hills a package with some grandparent books, baby booties, and name tags with options for their grandparent names to be [to announce our pregnancy]. We had them open the package while we were skyping, although grandpa had already guessed what the announcement would be. We also sent pictures and a video of the ultrasound to his uncle and auntie to be.
We told the Foster family in person. Jeremiah’s sister and her husband had recently welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Boone, into this world and we brought him a gift with a onesie that said ‘I’m being promoted to big cousin.'”
“We found out [we were having a boy] around 12 weeks. We had some genetic testing done early on in the pregnancy. The day we received the results we went to lunch and opened the envelope together, just the two of us. We were ecstatic about the news of our little man. We had both guessed before that we were having a baby boy. That weekend we went shopping and we each picked out an outfit for him. Mom picked out a onesie that said “Mom’s handsome little fella” and dad picked out some camouflage overalls. We took pictures with our outfits and sent them to our family to share the news.”
