Little Penelope, or Poppy as her big brother calls her, was such a little peach. That dark hair and her big beautiful eyes, I was in love with her cute little face from the moment she came through the door. She doesn’t know yet, just how lucky she is, but little Poppy has two of the kindest, most genuine parents I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and a big brother who is, no doubt, going to make sure she is well versed in the ways of the Jedi.
Meet my little friend, Penelope, and a little about this little beauty from her amazing mama.
“We wanted baby’s gender to be a surprise and we held out until the day she was born! Best ‘surprise’ ever.
“I labored at home for many hours and when I hit “stage 2” labor I knew we had to go. We arrived at the birth center shortly after 3pm in the afternoon and Penelope was born at 3:30. We were home with our little angel by 8pm the same day. It was an amazing experience.
“We were too busy crying and holding her after she was born to talk about anything other than how in love we were.”
“We wanted to pay homage to our grandmothers who had a HUGE impact in our lives. My husband is Greek and my grandmother was a seamstress so we were looking for something that could work. Penelope is a Greek name that translates to “weaver or bobbin” so we felt it was perfect. Additionally in Greek mythology, Penelope was Odysseus’ wife and represents patience and loyalty (she waited 20 years for him to come home).
“Sophia is her middle name which was my husbands Yiayia’s first name. So we were able to honor two incredible women with our little one’s name, mission accomplished.”
Their advice to new parents:
“Enjoy it and try your best to be present in the moment. The days are long but the years are short. It flies all too quickly.”
