This year, for Christmas, Scott bought his beautiful wife, Amelia, the most perfect gift. She had been talking about how much she wanted the birth of their sweet daughter photographed, so he shot me an email and he surprised her with exactly that. (I always love being in on these sneaky surprises and love hearing all about how these sweet husbands gift their sweethearts!)
When the night came that January, and Amelia was finally in labor, I headed to Mercy Medical Center in Rogers and waited for their little miracle to make her debut. The weather outside was cold and drizzly, but that little hospital and waiting room were warm and peaceful and full of family and friends who were all excited to meet Miss Millie Elisabeth.
Here is just a little bit of her story from the night she was born.
Scott’s sister was able to hop over to labor and delivery for the night just to help deliver her newest little niece. It was so special for all of them to have her there.
She was absolutely perfect and already so loved and doted upon. Unfortunately, those snuggles were cut a little short when Millie’s nurses decided she needed to be monitored in the NICU for a little while. She would spend the next 5 days there after they discovered one of her little lungs didn’t quite inflate with that first big breath.
Mom and dad were so strong through all of their uncertainty and I’m sure it helped that Millie’s Aunt was able to reassure them that it wasn’t uncommon.
By then end of the week they were all able to finally head home and I met them at the hospital for just a few more photographs before they finished this very first part of their journey as a family of three.
