That first year with baby is always the quickest. They say “the days are long and the years are short,” and as a mom of four, my oldest baby being 8(!!) I can completely attest to this! Looking back, especially over that first year, it seems time went far too quickly. You blinked and now your squishy little newborn is walking and talking gibberish and before you know it, she’s turning one.
Samantha came to me for her one year milestone session and we of course incorporated a cake to smash too. Her mom planned on the cutest little frilly outfits for her little princess and we put her in some sweet pieces from the studio collection too. She was so much fun to photograph and I loved getting to know her sweet mom and dad too! They are welcoming a sweet baby boy in a couple weeks and I can’t wait to see this little brown eyed beauty with her baby brother very soon!
I asked Sam’s beautiful mommy to tell me a little about her sweet little girl and I just love the little stories she had to tell. Allow me to introduce you to Samantha.
Looking back to the day Samantha was born: “She was as cute as can be with a full head of black hair. I was so happy to finally be able to hold her and see her for the first time. Dad was amazed.”
What has been your favorite milestone so far? “Too many to count. The first time she smiled, laughed, crawled and starting walking.”
“We had several names picked up but decided on Samantha Marie after she was born. We both loved the name Samantha and Marie is a family name on both sides of our families.”
[She was so sweet and delicate with her cake. She wanted at the inside but wasn’t too sure about the frosting on the outside. So she used her cute little fingers to pinch and poke at it until she got what she wanted. We were cracking up at how dainty she was being!]
And I always love asking their advice for new parents out there: “Do what is best for your baby. There are so many books and recommendations out there about what you should do, but at the end of the day do what is best for your baby.”
